Song! Challenge! #13: (Tsiwt A Htiw) !Egnellahc !Gnos

Season 2 of the Song! Challenge! continues...are we having fun yet?

This week's game is, I think, pretty tough. I'm going to give it a Degree of Difficulty of 9.2. How many of the clips can you identify?

This week's Challenge! features backwards song clips, but with an added twist. Instead of all being from a certain era, these clips have something else in common. If you figure out what the common thread is, it might help you identify the ones you can't guess.

Your task is to identify all 10 clips -- SONG AND ARTIST/SHOW -- in this week's Challenge!. Some extra information for this week's game:
  • There are no TV theme songs. (You: WHAT?! Me: I know.)
  • In response to feedback from last year's Challenge!s, I have added identifying numbers before each clip, to make it easier to figure out which song you're on. Sadly, I didn't save the master "numbering" file from last week or the week before, and I had to re-record the numbers again. On my laptop with the janky fan. So, whatever. Forgive the janky numbers.
  • This Challenge! features 2 songs from Broadway shows, 1 (obscure) song from a movie soundtrack, and at least one song from each of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
  • Songs in this week's Challenge! may have appeared in previous Challenge!s.
  • Each clip will be worth 2 points, and I will award partial credit. If you get the song title but not the artist or the artist but not the title, I will give you 1 point. Get both the song AND the artist and get 2 points.
  • Last week, I held all entries until the deadline. I think I'm going to try that again this week and see what happens. I'll wait to post entries until after the 7pm Tuesday deadline. We'll see how well everyone can do when they don't have anyone's paper to peek off of.

The Rules

Your job is to enter your song guesses for all 10 clips (SONG TITLE AND ARTIST THIS WEEK) as a single comment here on the blog. In the case of a song from a movie or musical, you may provide either the artist who sang it or the movie/musical it appeared in. Standard rules apply (Judge's decision final, have fun, blah blah blah). Again, I'll be counting minor misspellings and other tiny inaccuracies as correct, as long as you're mostly right.

You can submit your comment-entry starting at 7:00pm EDT tonight, but I won't be approving any comments until after the Tuesday evening deadline. No help from other entries this time around. The deadline for all entries is Tuesday evening at 7:00pm EDT.

You may enter as often as you like -- but each comment/entry will be counted independent of your other entries; so if you get a question right in one entry but wrong in another, it only counts as correct in the one you got it right in. (Got that?) If you're reading this on Facebook, go to the blog: http://sssemester.blogspot.com to hear the quiz and enter your comment/entry.

The Grand Prize

The first person to get all 10 song titles and artists correct in a single entry -- or the person with the most points by 7:00PM EDT ON TUESDAY, MAY 25 -- will win a $20 gift certificate* to Patrick's Kitchen and Drinks in Zionsville (Comfort Food With A Twist), sponsored by frequent Song! Challenge! winner Sacha, aka (since 2:30 this afternoon) "Cricket." I love that she's giving back to the game that has brought her so much. :) Thanks, Sacha!

*Details: Limit one per party per visit. Not good toward gratuity. No cash back. Not good with any other discounts or offers. Expires 11/01/10.

And hey! If you'd like to participate as a prize sponsor by donating a prize valued at $10 or more, please e-mail me at SSSemester(at)yahoo(dot)com.

(Almost) Everybody "Wins"

The target number for this week's (Almost) Everybody "Wins" is 8. You'll need to get at least 8 points correct in order to get the (Almost) Everybody "Wins" prize.

This week's (Almost) Everybody "Wins" prize is an invitation to a gathering I'll be hosting on Saturday, June 12 -- a tasting of Cafe Orzo, which you've heard about on this blog before. Make sure to leave your e-mail address in the body of your comment/entry so that I can follow up and get you the details on the gathering -- the when and the where. (If you're worried about spambots, use the format "user(at)domain(dot)whatever" like I did above, and we should be fine. Nobody reads this blog anyway -- not even spambots.)

I'm entering for now. I am out of town, so not really having a lot of time, but maybe I can work on it more tomorrow.

3. Won't Back Down; Tom Petty
4. Dance 10, Looks 3; A Chorus Line
5. Shadow Dancing; Andy Gibb
8. Dancing In the Street; Martha and the Vandellas
10. Dancing Machine; Jackson Five

So, now that I have typed these in I remember that there is a super secret code connecting all the entries, which I believe is that "Dance" or some form of "Dance" is in the title to all of them. Which means that number 3 is wrong. :-(

I'll try again tomorrow.
